As of now, John Carpenter's final film is The Ward. If anyone else had directed this, it would be passably mediocre. As the final Carpenter film, it's depressingly dull and derivative. I’m sure you are super happy For John Carpenter & Robert Englund to receive their Star on Hollywood’s walk of fame. 😎
@codyleach Would you be interested in doing a ranking of the John Candy movies ?
Terminator is 💯 true. Its a cyborg michael myers.
I'm sure some people will complain that we don't learn more about the aliens but it was ok from me as enjoyed this one and, since I'm a cat lover, I love Frodo. (Someone in production must be a Lord of the Rings fan as get Sam and Frodo here) My guess that we'll learn some more about the aliens when the final film is release sometime next year.
You’re not alone on that scream kill. Dumbest kill known to mankind
If it's day one we wouldn't know much but we do get the egg scene, so we know that. The military are announcing to keep quiet and to head to the water - again maybe be told how they figured out that ... maybe it's an alien / aliens where the next one will be a military perspective .. who knows.
One thing i love about Carpenters work is there isnt really a wrong answer for anyones favourite movie he has done, he has so many different genres but his style stays the same, you can tell its one of his movies, The Thing, Halloween, China, Fog, They Live and quite a few more are defently movies that could be anyones favourite and nobody could argue. Thats the mark of a great filmaker.

For me personally: 18. The Ward 17. Memoirs of an Invisible Man 16. Village of the Damned 15. Ghosts of Mars 14. Vampires 13. Escape From LA 12. Christine 11. In the Mouth of Madness 10. Dark Star 9. Starman 8. Big Trouble in Little China 7. Prince of Darkness 6. They Live 5. Assault on Precinct 13 4. The Fog 3. Escape From New York 2. The Thing 1. Halloween
The Thing and Blade runner released on the same day. 2 masterpieces both vastly underrated /hated at the time.
Favourite director and can't fault your ranking. The top 11 Vs the rest is spot on. My top 11 would vary from yours but they shift around with every watch depending what I'm in the mood for.
Interesting list. Where in this list would you place his tv movies Elvis, Someone's Watching Me!, Cigarette Burns and Pro-Life?
A terrible Renny Harlin movie? Next you tell ne the sky is blue
This wasn't filmed in New York. It was all filmed in Montreal, Quebec, Canada.
I feel Expendables 2 was when it peaked. And feel JCVD was the best villain of the franchise
Jonathan is a time traveller who was sent back in time, married the cat woman (who murdered their daughter who the devil assumes the form of their daughter), then snapped. Sienna is drawn in their dad's note book, but Jonathan is missing. Art sets up Jonathan before killing his mom, tries to wake Jonathan up and knows where Jonathan would be during the opossum scene. Additionally, Art seems much more restrained when going after Sienna, too. As for the blade, it is a manifestation of Sienna's regeneration abilities. Who else do we know who can regenerate? That's right, Art the clown. And, besides Art, Jonathan and Sienna are the only other characters that see the pale girl.
I love The Thing and its in my top 10 All Time but theres no way its ahead of Halloween. And Big Trouble in Little need to be a few notches higher on the list.
I think the biggest problem with this movie is that it feels unfinished
Did you watch the anime?
1. The Thing 2. Halloween 3. Escape From New York 4. Big Trouble in Little China 5. They Live 6. Assault on Precinct 13 7. The Fog 8. In the Mouth of Madness 9. Prince of Darkness 10. Starman 11. Christine 12. Escape From L.A. 13. Vampires 14. Ghosts of Mars 15. The Ward 16. Dark Stat 17. Village of the Damned 18. Memoirs of an Invisible Man
Here is my personal Ranking of John Carpenter's 21 Films (including his first short film, the two episodes of the tv-show "Masters of Horror" and one episode of the tv-show "Suburban Screams") 1. The Thing (1982) 2. Assault on Precinct 13 (1976) 3. They Live 4. In the Mouth of Madness 5. Halloween (1978) 6. Big Trouble in Little China 7. Escape from New York 8. Starman 9. Christine 10. Prince of Darkness 11. Cigarette Burns 12. Someone’s Watching Me! (1978) 13. Dark Star 14. Memoirs of an Invisible Man 15. The Fog (1980) 16. Vampires (1998) 17. Elvis (1979) 18. Body Bags (1993) 19. Captain Voyeur (1969) 20. The Ward 21. Escape from L.A. 22. Village of the Damned (1995) 23. Pro-Life 24. Ghosts of Mars 25. John Carpenter’s Suburban Screams (2023)
Prince of Darkness is so underrated, and yes amazingly creepy., and so great to see Pleasance in another Carpenter movie.. Oh, I cannot believe how high you put Mouth of Madness 1 Just such a disjointed impossible to truly understand piece of garbage! However, I do thank you for your positive review for They Live, I've never seen iit but will buy a copy now!
Left us on a cliffhanger. What’s the things that don’t make sense in get out?
So, this is your list?
I need to get back to the space ship 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂‼️‼️‼️☠️
Yeah, noticed that Karen Allen mistake of one Bill Murray movie for another right away, but when you watch a ton of movies in your lifetime, your bound to make a mistake sooner or later right? I enjoyed your list, and it makes me happy that out of 18, only 6 have I never seen, and out of the other 12 I like and own the majority of them. I made a list of the ones I've never seen and will make it a point to see them down the road. Thanks for the list Cody!!
I agree The Thing is his best film but I just love Halloween more. The shot where you see Michael from the front of the house and he slowly carries a body to the back is just pure film beauty to me. Man he has a good eye for making evil look beautiful.
I just did not like this. Yeah it picked up towards the end and I started to like it. Just more negatives than positives for me.
I love Halloween and i think it's the best slasher movie ever made but i agree that the thing is the best horror movie ever made and it's my favorite horror movie and my favorite John Carpenter movie ever made.
I always felt like Escape From LA was am intentional satire of Escape From New York as a way for Carpenter to give a commentary on the shallow and derivative Hollywood movie system. Cheap retreads and uninspired sequels were already rampant back then and Carpenter was sick of the studios. Edit: having Vampires above Big Trouble and Escape from New York is...certainly a choice 😂😂😂 I guess we disagree about James Wood being awesome in the role. I think the entire movie suffers greatly from Woods/Baldwin being the leads, they don't have the gravity or look to pull any of this off at all.

Ima have ya wife's holes echoing, bitch ass clown.

Christine is easily my personal favorite of Carpenters work. Honestly, Halloween would be very low on my list as far as my own personal taste, I'm so over Halloween. Its a combo of the fatigue of how long and unnecessarily it became a franchise. But I also never found the original to be as good as its hyped up to be.
1) Escape From New York (because Kurt Russell as S.D. 🐍 Plisskin is the man) 2) Halloween 3) The Thing 4) Vampires 5) Escape From L.A. Haven’t seen the rest except for the remakes: 1) Assault On Precinct 13 2) The Fog Assault with Ethan Hawke & Laurence Fishburne was far superior to The Fog remake
Places Halloween at #2 while wearing a Halloween t-shirt. LMFAO! GTFOH!!!
Is there a 4k release?
Would love to see a ranking of John Carpenter themes/ scores
I *am* the gatekeeper! Are you the keymaster? 😂
Ghosts of Mars is ranked criminally low
I have to agree that the thing is probably his best movie. The things practical effects are seriously still some of the best in the industry. CGI cannot touch the work that was done for that movie
1. Halloween, I will agree that I'm burned out on talking about it and the fighting in the fanbase but this is still my favorite horror movie. 2. In The Mouth of Madness is awesome and gets better each time you watch it. 3. They Live is a crazy fun movie and I dig the darker ending. You didn't see too many movies end with the main heroes dying in the 80s. It was a cool twist that the so-called love interest was actually a villain the whole time. Great social commentary with how the middle class is declining and it's scary how this movie feels more real in 2024. 4. The Thing, great special effects, great music, cool characters and another great dark ending. 5. Christine, mixing Stephen King and John Carpenter is my jam. 6. Escape From NY has Kurt as one of the coolest movie characters ever. 7. Vampires is criminally underrated and James Wood is awesome in everything. 8. Assault on Precinct 13 is really cool low budget 70s thriller, 9. The Fog, it drops the ball a little bit in the 3rd act but most of it was really strong and love Tom as the lead. 10. Big Trouble in Little China, I don't like it as much as I did as a kid, but I still have fun with it and Jack Burton is a fun character. I find most JC movies to be a least watchable, but I hate Ghost of Mars and his Invisible Man with Chevy Chase is also pretty unwatchable. Movies like The Ward and Escape from LA fall on the disappointing side but I don't hate them.
Starman deserved much better on your list and Big Trouble in Little China should have been in the top 5.
Then it wouldn’t be my list, would it?
@@CodyLeachYT True. Which is why I disagree with your list.
Do we not count Bruce from jaws as a horror icon??
Great video man! Hurts a little to see the fog so low, for me it’s probably too 5, but this video has been a long time coming and didn’t disappoint!
The ranking years in the making... 1. Escape from NY 2. The Thing 3. Halloween 4. In the Mouth of Madness 5. Prince of Darkness 6. Escape from LA 7. Starman 8. Big Trouble in Little China 9. Assault on Precinct 13 10. Christine 11. They Live- crazy somehow a movie this good is that low 12. Body Bags 13. Dark Star 14. Vampires 15. The Fog 16. Village of the Damned 17. Ghosts of Mars 18. The Ward
Dude where did u get that Terrifier shirt I need it
